  • GI slow with large texturemaps

Is there a way to set a texture resolution for GI when doing calculations at render?

Like if I use a 36k exr map for colors, you could possibly sample from a lower mipmap resolution?

Hm, sure; I'll make a note for it. Currently there is only an on/off switch, but it should not be a problem to expand this to a filter multiplier.

I was also wondering if Vray loads Proxies only once if there are multiple references of the same proxy in a scene.

      Thanks

Do you have the vray override material?
We use that a lot - say we've got a dark wood floor, the GI version will be 1/10th the res and much lighter, with reflections turned off.

It will be loaded only once.

Does that come with Vray 4 Maya? I think the easiest solution would be to have a lower mipmap resolution used in the texture. It feels as if it uses the highest when rendering..

*edit* found it. Still wish the volume fog GI texture option was in global render settings for all textures when using GI.
