  • Maya 2011 Subscription Advanced Pack + VRay for Maya

    Hello,

anyone using VRay for Maya with the new Maya 2011 Subcscription Advanced Pack under Windows 7 64bit?

After deinstalling Maya 2011, installing the Maya 2011 SAP and installing the newest NB of VrayforMaya 2011, no Vray plugin can be found anywhere!?

    Any quick tip?

    Thanks
    Lars

Okay, just found this. Helps a bit: The plugin is there and can be load, but there are plenty of errors. I'll check if we have some maya.env settings...

A separate builds for Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack will be available for download on our website soon.

    For now:
During installation try to set the following paths:

For Maya root folder please use this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack

For V-Ray plugins destination folder please use this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack\vray\plug-ins

For V-Ray additional files please use this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack for x64
Please note: install of V-Ray for Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack will uninstall V-Ray for Maya 2011 if present.

    Note:
If there are Maya environment variable set they should be changed.
    For example: MAYA_SCRIPT_PATH, MAYA_PLUG_IN_PATH, XBMLANGPATH

no maya.env involved. vray can't find the scripts under Maya 2011 Subscription Advanced Pack/vray/plugins/scripts.

any chance that the seperate build will be available soon?

Yes, we are working on it... in fact it's done already, just needs some testing on Linux.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

We got this to work by editing the text file under the "modules" folder. We just modified it from a previous install.

                Thanks Zach.

We already turn back to Maya 2011 SP1 as we had lot of more trouble with the ASP release.

Is there going to be a separate install or is it wrapped into the current 2011 nightly build installer?

                    Hi all,

I just can't get vray running on Maya 2011 SAP 64bit.

Vray plugin will load but with lots of script errors and will not render.

This is with the 10 Nov build.

I followed your instructions seq but to no avail

Are there any other manual steps I should be doing?

                    Many thanks,

                    Joe

                      johnjoe,

look for a 'modules' directory in your previous install. there should be a text document inside there that points to all the vray folders. then just modify that file with the new 'Subscription Advantage' path info, copy it to your new SAP install directory. here is what was in ours:

                      C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011\modules

                      Code:
// Module file for Maya. Helps Maya find resources for VRayForMaya.
                      + VRayForMaya2011x64 0.9 C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2011/vray

                        Thanks Zach,

                        Works a treat.

I need to get it working on osx now. Will try the same workaround but alter the path for mac.

                        Cheers,

                        Joe
