  • Tesselation in Vector Displacement

    Howdy,

I am using a 4k vector displacement map generated from Houdini, applied to a polygon plane with ample subdivisions but am getting tesselation artifacts in the displacement. Increasing max subdivs in the Vray attributes didn't seem to help, nor did changing the edge length (view dependent). We're getting some strange stepping artifacts. Thoughts/ideas?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Is it possible to get me the scene to vlado@chaosgroup.com to see where the problem is?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

So this is because of the bilinear texture interpolation that we use now. We are working on bicubic interpolation, which should solve this problem.

        Up !
We have the same problem... We are in a production on a feature film.
Any new about the bicubic interpolation with vectore displace ?

We have a shot with an ocean...

In the latest nightly/stable builds, there are extra V-Ray attributes for File nodes where you can set the interpolation to Bicubic or Biquadratic, which will solve the problem.
