maya hair cache problem

  • maya hair cache problem

    Hello
    I test vray and maya hair when I render on one machine render is ok.
    but when I render on several machines with hair cache file there is problem with vray render.
    It seems to me that vray doesnt read hair cache file

    This is simple scene :

    System:
    Fedora 11 x64 vray builds 13374 maya 2011 sp1

    I can't quite understand your question. VRay can't read the cache file. It's a Maya cache and it's Maya that passes the hair geometry to VRay. Are you trying to render alternative frames on several machines? If that so, I guess Maya is not using properly the same cache for some reason. You can use distribute rendering to make sure that the same geometry is used by all machines.

        Yep, there is a strange problem with the cache. In batch mode, Maya returns us the cached geometry, but in the UI, it's the real one. Don't know why, will try to figure this out. But since I don't know if it's even fixable, I suggest you not using the cache or render in batch mode on all machines.

          I think I've made a progress with this issue. Try to turn on the vray scene export on all machines (must use some more recent nightly build). I will fix the normal rendering for the nightly build. Tell us if this helps.
