    problem starting license server...

    Hi,

    Our license server occassionally stops working with no apparent reason.
    when we try to stop and restart it, nothing happens.. and no error messages are given
    we are using the license server from this installer: vrlservice_adv_21001_linux_x86.


    here's some output from the terminal:
    (it was "hanging" on the third line, so we aborted that")

    chef:/home/raro# /etc/init.d/vrlsvcctl stop
    chef:/home/raro# /etc/init.d/vrlsvcctl start
    Starting V-Ray license service...^C^Z
    chef:/home/raro# "/usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/linux_x64/bin/vrlservice.exe" -daemon

    any suggestions?

    FYI: When the vray license server is down, maya 2011 crashes when it tries to open a scene which has vray in it.

    Is this in OS X? Or on Linux?

      the license server runs on our linux server (debian squeeze)
      our workstations are mac's ( osx 10.5.8, this is different from my signature because my IT guy runs a different OSX )

      on the mac's we login via ssh on the linux server to start and stop the vray license server.

        Ok then; if have not done this already, you can email us to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com and we can get you an updated version of the license server that might work better.
