  • Fur rendering very slow

    Hey!

I'm making some grass with vray fur, but rendertimes are getting very long compared to the result, i think.
I have some more patches in the scene and it seems that the most time consuming task is vrays preparing of the scene for the rendering.
Is it a problem that i only made one plane with the furProperties attached and copied that plane several times? Would it be more efficient to make seperate furs? And is it a problem to fur when faces are not attached to each other in one polyobject?
In the left image the density is 0.001 per area, in the right it's .01. The shown area is something like 280cm in X.

Thanks for every tip on this!

What is your dynamic memory limit? The default is 400 MB which may be way too low.

Ok then; you can probably try tessellating the fur source surface a bit. Also, do you have any displacement in the scene?
