anyone having problems with maya/vray batch rendering?

We had that problem on certain machines as well. We ended up turning off hyperthreading, and it fixed the batch render problem. Not a great fix, but it worked. I'm very curious why this is. Sounds like instability of Maya's render.exe, and not really vray... but it is a problem that only really pops up when vray is called to render, as MR doesn't have the issue. Also, the problem never came up on other machines with HT on... so yikes. I'm not sure it is even possible to turn off HT on a mac. So your other option is to write out vrscenes, and render those through vray.
