  • Vray can' t render resolution over full HD?

    Hi

trying to render a plane with displacement, with a resolution higher than 1980x1080. My computer uses all the 8 cores, the memory starts getting high and high, and I got nothing.
If I render at full HD, it takes 1 minute the frame.
    Using Vray 1.5, Maya 2009 SP1a x64 in Linux.

Try increasing the dynamic memory limit value. The default 400 MB is too low in most cases.

also check out your subdivision of your object. the default 256 is insanely high. my guess is that at the lower resolution and thus smaller edge length (default of 4) it can handle hd....but at bigger resolutions your mesh is tessellating more at render than in HD. start with 4,8, or 16 that should do the trick nicely.

Subdivisions (default 256) doesnt have any effect in 2D or 3D displacement.
It only affects when rendering in subdivision mode.

Memory limit is 5000 MB ... I'll try with the subdivisions.
          Thanks!

You need to modify the edge length, rather than the subdivisions; you can increase the edge length twice each time you increase the resolution twice.

It seems reducing subdivisions and edge lenght everything works fine,

              Thanks!
