Hope I get you right: You mean which proc we are using? We use Core i7 920, Q6600, Xeon E5620 and E5520.

Yes, this is what I meant... ok, will see what we have here and make some tests...

When it happened to me it was happening different on identically built machines - it was a farm from boxx, but isolating 20 that were all delivered at the same time with the same hardware it'd happen on some and not on others. They were Xeons, but I cant recall the exact spec.

I think Chris from V1 sent you an email with a render of glass that was done in strips which I made. I dont work there anymore so I don't know if you ever got back to him.

I got the scene, but we couldn't reproduce the bug here; maybe trying a few different machines will show up the problem.

I've found that things like this happening are more because the pathing that the Render nodes are using to access the scene is incorrect.
You have to be ABSOLUTELY sure that all the nodes are talking to the same location or you'll get black spots (not just in fog).

Thats not the issue I was having. Once I found out which machines were causing the fog to render different(/darker), I opened the scene on one and rendered it with no DR (no maps in the scene) and it came out fully darker.
Almost like one machine read the fog volue as 1, but the other was reading it as 0.01. Only fog that this issue came up with, tested loads of other materials.
Units were setup the same on both. Not a problem if you only ever use one machine, but I ended up having to strip all the fog out and tint the glass in post.

                That's unfortunate.
After this movie ends I'll have to run a heavy fog test and see what the results are on our farm.

I would just like everyone to be aware of that the devs might have solved this in the latest beta. We're looking into it right now to see if the 2.0 beta 3 will have the same issues.
