  • VRayMtl renders blurry unless "filter maps" is turned off in Render Globals

    Hi,

    I started a scene using V-Ray 1.5. I upgraded to the 2.0 beta this past weekend. Now, when I make a new shader and map a file texture into it, the result is extremely, extremely blurry. The old shaders (made in 1.5) render just fine. The only way I can get an acceptable result it to turn "filter maps" off in the Render Globals. Using GI/no Gi does not seem to have an effect.

    Maya 2011 SP1 OSX 10.6.5

    Thanks for the pointer; can you get me a scene that renders blurry to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can fix this?

    Best regards,

      Appears to me that I got the same problem. Do you still need something for testing?

        As far as my testing goes I would say that the strong blur only happens with exr files created with img2tiledexr.exe.
        When I use a png file instead it renders sharp.
        If I try to avoid this by turning filtering off in the map Maya reports an error:
        // Error: Exception [module=1] : Rendering region (128,12-(192,192) //

          If you can get me a scene for testing, it will be very useful. Other than that, img2tiledexr uses the exact same algorithm to produce the mip-map levels and the filtering as for PNG files.

            Nevermind, I think someone had applied an sharpening filter to the LDR panorama. Should have recognized that.
