  • Vray2 GPU prob

    hi,

I tried to run the GPU RT.
As u can see, the card (Quadro FX3800) should be find and supported.
But after output window says "Building OpenCL trace program...", nothing happens more.
No GPU and RT rendering starts.

    Best regards,
    Jörg

Just wait it out; on older cards the compiling of the OpenCL code can take quite a while (several minutes). This only happens the first time the code is needed, so afterwards it will start really fast.

In CPU mode, RT should work regardless of the Graphics Card, right?

Okay, well maybe I'm doing something wrong then. I *sorta* get the same errors the OP does: scene is empty, complains about image format not defined, etc, in CPU mode.

This is just with the default camera and a cube in the scene and then clicking the IPR button.

Can you paste the full log from the vray.exe? (Right click -> Mark in it)

Sure. I'm at work right now, so I'll run home on lunch this afternoon and send you the log(s).

Okay, I dont know what happened, but it's working fine now in CPU mode. Guess it was a fluke display issue or something.

                  Vlado,

                  thanks for ur answer.
It was correct - after waiting 1min or more it starts to render.

But now, ive a new machine with Win7.
And now the GPU render crashes everytime when I try to render IPR.
                  On XP64 it works....hmmmmm....

                  Best Regards,

Is this a 32- or a 64-bit machine? Try deleting the *.clbin file in the temporary Windows folder and see if it helps. Also keep in mind that cards based on the Fermi architecture are better suited for GPU rendering.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

hmmm... cant find any *.clbin file
                      Its 64bitWin7.
And yes - fx3800 isnt so nice for GPU - only 192 cores...

                      thanks Vlado,

Open Windows explorer, type %temp% as the folder name and look for the .clbin file there.

                          Thanks Vlado,

found the .clbin file and delited it.
Now GPU runs - no crashes....

But now, there are big differences between GPU and CPU rendering.
                          Dont know why....

                          Best regards,

have you use blend material or something like this ?
because rtGPU isn't able to use blend material at this time. and you only see the base material .
