  • VrayLight material emission Direct Illum error

Oddly enough, rendering out a shot in RT will take about 5 seconds to show a light emission surface.

On putting the shot through the regular render with reflections..the frame time goes up to 3 hours, 20 seconds.

However, when disabling the Direct Illum function of the shader, the scene renders at a normal 3mins, HOWEVER, the light is still emitting...

    odd, no?

This scene is Super 8 related so I'm not sure if I can throw you more than shader balls to see whats happening.

Even more odd..the light emission properties are fine in checking on the new build..the error I'm getting now is that RT will show the surface emitting light, but the VRAY render will not...Perhaps its a bounce related issue?

Things seem to work fine when using simpler geo and primitives.
Anything more advanced seems to cause this error (double sided for the shader is on "Emit both sides" and the normals are facing the correct direction).

I'd say it may be more situational unless UV's play a factor (this is projection mapped)....

Its just odd that RT shows no signs of an issue.
