  • Light linking broken for Vray rect lights?

I am using one of the last nightly builds.. Trying to light link proxies via relationship editor but it doesn't want to take.. I know this worked on linux using maya2009. Doesn't want to work for me in Maya 2011 for Windows though..

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    Seems to work here.
Can you tell me the exact version you're using?
Can you give me the exact steps to reproduce or a test scene?

(you can send the scene to teodor.petrov@chaosgroup.com)

    Best regards,

Using Maya2011 under Windows. Build 14535.

I have a scene file with 5million+ polys ontop of a few million more that are proxy. I then create a Vray rect light. Attach an exr texture to texture and duplicate the light with upstream connections turned on a few times. When I go to the light centric relationship editor and select the geo I wish to unlink it doesn't show the geo highlighted at all. Clicking anywhere does nothing.

I will try to shoot over a scene. Works fine with non vray lights. I sware it worked in a previous build in Maya 2009 in Linux.

      Thanks Teodor!

It Seems to happen in OSX for Maya 2011 too. Using the first 2.0 beta release. You can just create a sphere, then a vray rect light. Same thing happens.

Seems to work fine here with Maya 2011 Sp1 under Win 7 64bit and NB from 110130.

What sort of exr texture do you attach to the light? Is this for faking a e.g. studio light?

          All the best,
          Lars

It seems to be broken in 2.0 beta2, but not in the nightlies, pretty strange.
I've tested on MacOSX. I would test on windows, too, but later today.

Are you guys running Maya on Quadro cards? Perhaps its a display issue with Vray and Quadro cards? I am using a QuadroFX4000.

                No Quadro cards involved here.

I have a 2.0 beta install for OSX where it breaks, and a 14535 build at work under windows where its broken.

Yep, it was broken in the beta. It's fixed in the new builds
