  • Vray 2.0 running under Maya 2011.5

Hi guys, I need to finish a little work before update to Maya 2012, but the question is: How can I do run Vray 2.0 in Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack?.

Searching in the forum, I saw the way to do it, but with Vray 1.5, the next process:

    -------------
Install Vray for Maya in the next three directories:

    a)Suscription Advantage Pack Maya's root

    b)Suscription Advantage Pack Maya's root/vray/plugins

    c)ChaosGroup's root folder.

Then, copy "modules" folder, from prior installation to the root of Maya 2011 subscription advantage pack and edit the file leaving "VRayForMaya.module as:

// Module file for Maya. Helps Maya find resources for VRayForMaya.
    + VRayForMaya2011x86 0.9 C:\Archivos de programa\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack/vray

For the last, establish next environment variables:

    VRAY_FOR_MAYA2011_MAIN_x86, C:\Archivos de programa\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack/vray
    VRAY_FOR_MAYA2011_PLUGINS_x86, C:\Archivos de programa\Autodesk\Maya 2011 Subscription Advantage Pack/vray/vrayplugins

Finally, launch Maya and find vray plugin, throught plugin manager in (mayaroot/vray/plugins).

    ----------------

All right, but I still continue having this error:

// Error: Cannot find procedure "vrayUpdateAE".

    What am I doing wrong!?.

    Hi Reaversword,

We have a build for Maya 2011.5 (subscription advantage pack) for Windows 64bits in the nightlies.
And we can build versions for the other OSes, if there is a demand for them.

Please write to vlado@chaosgroup.com and state the version of OS and Maya you're using and you'll get a working version of VRay 2.0.

    Best regards,
    Teodor
    V-Ray developer

Unfortunately we don't have a 32-bit version; it looks like the Maya 2011.5 is no longer available from the Autodesk subscription center so we can't get its SDK. I will ask if we can get it, but it might take a while.

        Best regards,
        Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
