  • Ptex options and slowdowns.

Is it possible to add a color offset and color gain control to the ptex reader just like the maya texture file read node?

Also I notice that adding a ptex bump map really slows down the render. A lot. Perhaps it ignores the needed mipmap resolution when plugged into bumpmap on a vray shader?

Also, what do you recommend for cache size on a 442meg ptex file with mipmap? Is it possible to have texture memory displayed in RT log window?

While in centimeters I'm currently using 10 pixels for texel density worldspace generation from Mari. I think I sent you a 30 or 50 pixel density which was quite large, but awesome.

    Thanks!

Related to color gain and offset, I was noticing that RT doesn't support color space/input texture correction on ptex files.

I will add the color offset and gain control. I don't know what are the problems with the RT or with the bump mapping slow down but I'll see what I can do about them. As for the cache size I really have no idea what will be best but I'll see if there is a way to display the memory of the uncompressed texture.

I uploaded the Ptex files Vasil.. Do you have them for testing? I think there really needs to be a way to sample from the PTEX better. It's quite slow with GI turned on.
