  • OS X Renderslave

    Hi,

this question for sure had been asked 100 times before, but i found no answers in the archive.

We have our VRay-for-Maya license server on of our PCs. Now we want to our new Mac to added to the DR pool. So we installed VRay on the Mac, defined the License server and started the vrayslave. Now the slave waits for render requests on port 20207.

But when we start a DR render on the PC, we get the error the the Mac is refusing the connection.

What do we need to do on the Mac side? The firewall is off.

    Thanks for any input,
    Lars

    Hi,

Have you tried to start a DR rendering from the Mac?
Does rendering on the Mac using Maya works?
What is the log of the render slave on the mac looking like?

      Hi Teodor,

we can connect to the license server via http://1xx.xxx.x.xxx:30304 from the Mac.

But loading the VRay plugin in Maya on the Mac takes around 1 Minute (spinning wheel) and rendering within Maya doesn't work (cannot obtain a license).

Setting the license server via ./setvrlservice.exe seems to work. Starting the ./vrayslave gives us following error:

      [macpro:Contents/vray/bin] Lars% ./vrayslave

          It should be in: /Library/Logs/Maya
          The file name is: mayaRender.log

Thanks Zdravko, but there is no log file in this directory. Further on, there is no Maya directory under /Library/Logs.

But we found another solution, which should make you happy: We bought another VRay license for the Mac as we also need another GUI license.

You should reach the path through the Mac user account : /Users/user_name/Library/Logs/Maya.

This error "Failed to open listening port (4" usualy appears when there is vrayslave already started on the machine probably as service - you are able to register it during the V-Ray installation. Please check in the Activity Monitor if there is process "vray" running on port 20207. If this is the case you need to re-install V-Ray for Maya again and make sure to disable the option "Register V-Ray render slave as a service" in case you want to start V-Ray slave manually.
