  • vray proxy offset not effecting realflow vrmesh sequence

First off, I'm amazed at how well the convertion of RF mesh to vrmesh works. Fantastic work.

We are bringing in the meshes as vray proxys into maya using filename.%05d.vrmesh, which works great as well.

The problem is the "offset" field seems to have no effect at all. Suggestions?

    TIA,

You mean the animation frame offset parameter? Hm, I think it will only work for a single animated .vrmesh file for the moment. It should not be a problem to make it work with the %0nd option - will make a note for it.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

yes, thank you. that would make life easier. my current method requires duct tape, bailing twine and a few old spoons.

      Have a great weekend.

working again on a realflow job where I'm converting the realflow bin files to vrmesh files and noticed the offset wasn't working with the %0nd option. "self", I said, "I remember reading about this issue on the forum". Indeed. It was my own post!

So, I take it the offset didn't make it into the new release of vray (original post was based on 1.x, and now using 2.x). Not a huge deal renumbering files, but would be better not to have to..too...

Hm, I think it should be there... not sure if it made it into the official release or was added afterwards - I need to check. But it's definitely implemented now.

          Best regards,

It was fixed in the nightly builds a long time ago, but that was still after the release of 2.20.

                Hi Vlado,

I just installed the latest nightly build for OSX that i could find:
                vray_adv_22501_maya2012_snow_leopard_x64

but the offset hasn't been fixed in this one.
Is it possible that you guys compile a build for OSX for the latest nightly?
                no rush, just wondering

                  Yes. bump!
                  nightly of OSX is required.
(My trouble is Backburner Render of OSX.)

I have tested this on the stable build 22419 (last october, on maya2013).
The "Start offset" attribute has no effect if you have separate vrmesh files.

But you can make it work, like this :
                    Switch ON the "Sequence override".
Set the "Sequence length" to the number of vrmesh files you have.
                    Now "Start offset" works !!!
