  • blotchy flickering with FastSSS2 shader

    hi,

i have a problem rendering a character with FastSSS2 shader.
I get blotchy flickering only in the dark/shadow areas and only in the SSS render element layer.

    Im using win7 64bit, Maya 2010, Vray 2.00.04.

    Settings of the shader are:

    preset: skin(pink)
    prepass: 2
    scale: 1
    index: 1.3
some maps in the diffuse and sss slots
    single scatter: simple
    scatter GI: on
    prepassblur: 1

Rendering with Adaptive DMC and Adaptive Amount of 1 and the GI is for both bounces Brute Force.

    Any help/solutions on this problem?

    regards and thx

Can you show a few frames? Also, do you really need the "scatter GI" option?

    Best regards,

Hi vlado, i send some pictures to the support mail.
With the scatter GI option on the SSS areas are much smoother than without and the character was approved with that look.
So why not use this option. I didnt knew that this causes such problems in darkareas.

It may cause some flickering if the GI settings are low...

which GI settings do you mean?
Im rendering GI with brute force and the DMC sampler is at 0.003 with min/max of 2-50.
there is no other noise in the picture at all, only in SSS pass ;(

btw: how big can be the attachments when i send you stuff?
