  • (RawReflection x Reflection Filter) = Does not equal Reflection

    Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone else has been having this issue. When I bring my passes into Nuke, the Raw Reflection multiplied by the Reflection Filter gives me a Very muted reflection. Not matching at all to teh reflection channel that renders out with it. I'm trying to switch colors on a metal in post, but I can't get the rendered color to even work with this formula. Is there another workaround to match the reflection channel using the raw reflection?

I'm using vray 2.00.04 for maya. vray core 2.00.01

Sorry, I forgot to mention. I'm using the Carpaint Material. So yes it would be a blend material, though compacted into 1 shader.

This maybe the cause...vray cannot calculate a correct reflection filter, if there is more than 1 reflection layer present...so you better go with the reflect pass and then use another incidence pass to adjust it in comp.

Thanks for your input. I was afraid of that issue. Makes changing paint colors on cars much more difficult. I'll try just matching the reflects in nuke. Thanks again.

you may just use regular reflection pass as it has it properly baked in there. Or, you would have to split the reflection of the car paint shader into few render layers, where each will output a specific layer (not ideal) but it will give you the control you need.
