  • Forcing Vray to load displacements

Hi, I'm using Vray 2.0 version (not nightly build), I'm trying to work with 32 bits exr/ptex displacements/vectorial displacements textures (in the case of .exr with a Maya texture file, in the case of ptex with a VrayPtexNode).

Happens to me, that Vray doesn't renders it, its more, Vray doesn't disturbs itself in load it at render time, looking in the Maya Output window, so I do force Vray to load it linking the texture in the bump mapping (like bump, not normal), and leaving the parameter to 0. This way I avoid Vray renders any bump, but force it to load the texture for the displacement effect.

This is happening to someone more than only me?

Displacements work fine here so I must assume that there's probably something else that is not right in your scene. It does not make sense to try and force V-Ray to load the texture - it won't cause V-Ray to magically perform displacement. If V-Ray doesn't render the displacement, most probably it has not been set up correctly. Can you post a scene example?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

I could post it, but pTex maps are 250Mb. I'll upload it to MegaUpload, and I'll send you a mail to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com with the link.

      This happens to me under win 7 x64 & ubuntu 11.04 (x64)
