  • Fresnel and Gamma 2.2

    Hi,

I found this strange thing while working with Gamma 2.2 setup.
    (Maya2011, v2, last stable)

    1. I mean, that the value of 0.2 (which is 80% less Ref) is more than something like 50% or so.

    2. when I set the amount from 0.2 to 0.17 or less, there comes a black hole - in final render too.

Its not possible to set a minimal reflection and this is strange for me.
When I work with Gamma 1.0, this is no problem.

    The IOR is 1.6!
When I set the IOR to 6 or more it isnt so strange, but its the same thing with minimal reflections.

I tried other ways, like refCol down, or IOR down, its the same strange thing!

    What can I do?
    Is this a bug?

    Thanks for help

Ah good. I've had this problem in the past and assumed I was just missing something. I'm curious too.

      Hi
To get rid of the black hole, you can lower the cutoff threshold in the options tab of your materiel.

Working with a Gamma of 2.2, everything get brighter even the reflection. I'll be interested to see what Vlado would recommend.

        hi Yannick,

thats a way, to lower the cutoff treshold - great.
But I am realy interested too, to see what Vlado would recommend.

I just lower the cutoff threshold to .001, if there's another way to fix this I'm all ears.
