  • Refraction Artifacts??

Hey guys am currently working on a phone turntable and basically i have the phone modeled like a real one with the glass then the screen and then the matte around it, i am getting these weird artifacts appearing in my glass randomly, some white and some black, my ray depths are pretty deep 15 even tried 30 and my ior at 1.33, i have tried a new model new glass shader and still get the same issue, anyone have this issue before?

Are your surface between parts touching?
You can maybe move them a notch. There is a threshold somewhere for this.

It would be useful if you can post some images...

This is also a very similar problem I'm having.
I think it's also what Yannick mentioned but for me, I turned off subd's (no maya, no vray subd) as I think the smoothing just caused them to clip into each other. Well, that's the only thing left I can think of.
I'm curious what this 'Threshold' Yannick mentioned though.

Just to clarify my findings, the objects were definitely too close to each other, so I just moved them and the subd's were fine again.
