  • Using Blend Material with SSS shader

I am trying to blend between a SSS shader and a fully transparent Vray Mtl. I put the Vray material in the base material slot, and I put the SSS shader in the coat material 1 slot. But when I turn up the blend amount, the SSS shader blows out and gets really bright. Any ideas?

Just leave the base material blank, it should work just as well.

This works, but now I cannot evenly blend between the 2. The only way to get the transparent Vray material to show through at all is to set the SSS shader blend amount to 0. If I set the SSS blend to just 1%, the shader transparency completely goes away and turns black.

You can put a blend map for the coat material, no?

I can do a blend map, which is what I was planning, but I was just worried about where the map is not fully black or white, like where there is a gradient...i might look black. I will do a test though when I get the chance and I'll let you know what happens.
