  • Subdivision Prob - bug?

    Hi,

    I found a strange thing.
    Perhaps I don´t understand it?

I take a simple low-polysphere and render it as it it. (the Original)
Than I aktivate Vray attribute "subdivision", with the parameters: 3, view dependent ON, 12 (View dependent ON)
Than I deactivate the View dependent Parm and as you can see, the edges are now "non subdivated" (Vie dependent OFF)
...but only the edges - so I think it could not be, that the parms are too low....

    Where is the mistake?
(Maya 2012 with Vray 2.2, last official build)

    Thanks

When you turn off the "view-dependent" parameter, the edge length is in world units. Since the default is 4.0, it may be too big to have any noticeable effect. You'll have to reduce the edge length until you get the desired result.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Thanks Vlado,
I tried to reduce edge lenght down to 0.001.
      Nothing helps!
      What can I do?

        it works...

now it works with lower down edge lenght.

I forgot, that I had an Override on the object and tried your hint in the globals.

With 0.1 its perfect, perhaps a bit to much.

I hope that its possible in future to visualize the results.

        thanks again,
        Jörg
