  • Ptex rendering - resolution problems

So on behalf of one of my students I am submitting this question, we've both been banging our heads trying to figure it out.

    Hi everyone!

So, I'm trying to use Ptex in Mudbox for this model which is part of a school project.
However, when I load the texture into a Vray Ptex node and connect it to a Vray material and
render, I get the right colors, but displayed as an extremely blocky mess. I've tried changing
the parameters for the Vray Ptex material around, but it hasn't made any difference. I'm rendering with subdivisions
from the viewport so the geometry itself is as intended, it's only the texture. I hope you can clarify.

    Thanks in advance.

This will happen if the geometry that you painted in Mudbox is different from the geometry that gets rendered in Maya. Why this happened I don't really know - perhaps some conversion happened on export/import of the geometry into one of the apps.

    Best regards,
