This might not be a vray problem, but I thought I'd pose it anyway.
I'm working in mudbox. Texturing objects. When I am done, I "update scene in maya". It then takes the updated model/textures and sends them to maya where they arrive all textured. The textures however, are mental ray textures (since that seems to be mayas default). I can click on a texture and convert it to a vray texture and it will switch with the maps intact (at least the diffuse map I haven't tried doing it with bump, reflection maps, etc). The problem is, in the viewport the object that had its textured changed from mental ray material to vray material shows up completely black. It renders fine, but is black in the viewport. Any solution to this little problem? When I go to change "viewport texturing" at the bottom of the vray material attribute editor to "color", it doesn't give me any other options. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
