  • Fluid cloud does not render

    1) create a 3D fluid container, choose the "thick cloud puff" preset
    2) make a directional light with raytraced shadows
    3) render

Maya software and metal ray both render a nice fluffy little cloud (2 seconds)
Vray takes 10x longer (22 sec) and then renders a flat blurred circle.

Is there a way to render fluids like this properly in Vray?

First make sure you have VRay 2.2 at least (best nightly). Then change the SpaceTime texture to some other type. SpaceTime is not yet supported. VRay uses a general purpose volume shader, so it will be slower then Maya's one. You can apply to the PhoenixFD beta program which comes with faster specialized shader that can render Maya fluids too.
