  • Vray subdivision problem ?

    Hello,

I'm beginning to test vray subdivisions and my object appears downscaled as soon as I check "render as subdivision surface".
Please see the image attached, one was render whith vray subdivs disabled and the other was rendered with the vray subdivs enabled and the following parameters:
    -override global settings checked.
-max subdivs value set to 0.
    -displacement None checked.

    I'm working on:
    -Windows XP Pro 64bits
    -Maya 2009
    -Vray 2.20.01

    Is this behaviour correct ?

    Thanks,

    Fred.

This is correct, yes. You will get the same results with the Maya smoothing method if you enable boundary smoothing.

Thanks for the quick reply, but where can I disable the equivalent of this parameter (boundary smoothing) in vray?

      Thanks,

      Fred.

There is not one; currently V-Ray always subdivides the edge boundaries. If you need that feature then it would be better to use the Maya smoothing.
