  • Animation not picking up light cache

    Hi folks.
We are having an issue with one of our scenes here with character animation.
During the second phase of rendering the animation mode the final render seems to have no GI as if it's not reading the saved maps properly very black and muddy.
We have saved the maps locally so it's not a server issue, rendering out a single frame not saving out the maps gives a perfect result.

Usually we turn off light cache during the second phase as it is saved to the ir files but if we do have it turned on and switched to from file forcing it to read a LC file then we get the result needed.

My question is, is it ok to leave LC on and set to "from file" during the second phase, as i understand it this is not usually necessary and should be turned off.

    Many thanks.

It's ok, it won't do any harm.

    Best regards,

In animation mode, the samples in the irradiance map are separated for each object based on the render IDs; if you add/delete/hide/unhide geometry after the map is computed, this will reorder the IDs, and V-Ray won't be able to find the correct irradiance samples for the objects.
