  • Matte Surface Problem

    Hello Everyone,

i currently hit an issue while trying to match a 3d Object to a Backplate and HDR Lighting. And there is not one Tutorial that explains it with Vray for Maya.

    Well i got this Far:
    1. i assigned a Vray Object Properties Node from the Create Menu to the Plane and checked Matte Surface and typed in a Value of -1 for Alpha Contribution (according to the Vray Guide by Fransesco L. ) Everything is good so far. The Plane is not rendered but the Shadow of the Sphere is seen.

    http://www.imageshost.de/bilder.php?...341d29123c9674

The PROBLEM LEFT is that the Shadow is only on the matte surface plane. But i also need the Shadow of the Spere itself being reflected onto the Sphere.

"Matte for all Secondary Rays" doesn't help being checked.

P.s. i posted this problem in cgsociety but get links to the Vray Forums, which havent really helped so far. The last one going in the direction is this one:

    http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ht=live+action

but it doesnt solve the problem with the reflection of the shadow on the object itself.

There is really a need of a video tutorial for this.

    Hope that someone can help.

You can try using the "Use background" shader instead.

    Best regards,

I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
