Sometimes my batch render in Maya2012 freezes and just hangs indefinitely at a percentage done when I use distributed rendering?
I generally never batch render in Maya from the file menu when Maya is open, so I'm not sure if this problem would or would not be present in that scenario. It happens once in a while and not too often, but it creates a need for me to constantly check my renders at work to make sure. I usually cancel the render at this point and set my batch (.bat) file to render from the frame it froze at. It starts and finishes that frame without a problem, so it's not a particular frame that is causing it.
What could cause this to happen?
- One of the network computers losing network connection?
- The computer running the V-Ray license dongle losing connection?
- Some Windows background activity, like an automatic update?
We use Maya2012 (64-bit) on Windows 7 professional (64-bit) and have a gigabit network.
