Maya ramp shader ignores vray light "affect specular" option

  • Maya ramp shader ignores vray light "affect specular" option

    When rendering using Maya's ramp shader with vray lights the "affect specular" option seems to be ignored.
    Is this a bug and is there any workaround for this?

    It seems to work fine here.
    Can you attach an example scene? Which V-Ray for Maya build are you using?

        Attached - ramp shader lit by light with affect spec off

        rampShaderAffectSpec.ma.zip

        You can see from this maya file that the light has affect spec, diffuse and reflection set to off but that the spec is still working.

          Thank you very much for the scene. There is something odd here.
          We've done some tests and indeed VrayLight is affecting specular property of rampShader even when "affect specular" is off.
          The situation is very strange because this is only shown in RGB color render element ; Specular Render Element is black if affect specular is off.
          We noticed that this is only happens if Specular Contribution property in Light Options is =1 - if this value is different from 1 - for example 0.999 or lower or 1.001 or higher this is not happened.
