      Hi,

We've seen this problem, but we can't get a 100% reproducible steps.
Can you depict the steps needed to make V-Ray stop working in this unpleasant way?

I'm having this too now. Can't even render. Not sure what to do, it appeared out of nowhere.

Maya itself is playing up though (hanging on start-up for a long time), so will try reinstalling that.

I think the first step would be to just clear your user prefs/profile and see if that helps...if not then reinstall...

I am on the latest nightly build 22593, and I must say Vray RT is getting really usable. It is a real kick in the pants to see it take advantage of our renderfarm when I tick the distributed render box. Wow!

Only problem, I get the issue with "Rendering is not re-entrant" as well. It seems to happen after I have done one too many restarts of RT. So for example, I was testing out vray fur, changed a bunch of fur attributes, then a bunch of hair3mtl attributes, then added a light. Stopped RT, did brought in an HDR for the dome light I was using, noticed that it was not working so well with distributed rendering and shut down RT again. When I tried to launch RT again, I got "Rendering is not re-entrant". Even if trying to do a regular non-RT render. If I save the scene, quit out of maya and restart, all is well but inevitably it will hit the "Rendering is not re-entrant" error again.

Is there a way to reset without restarting Maya perhaps?

better option would be to make a memory dump of your maya/vray.exe memory during this error message (you can use windows task manager or windows process explorer) and send that info to vray guys.

Thanks Dmitry! I'll give that a go.

Oh, by the way. I've got both a Maya and Vray dump after this event. Forgive me for sounding like a complete newb, but should I post it here or is there a more appropriate support email I should use? Forgive me, we are a very, very, very small company

I think, that we managed to solve this particular problem with the nightly builds, so you might give them a try.

                  Best regards,

Wondering if I am having this same issue, I downloaded and installed a newer nightly build and it didn't fix the problem.

As far as I know from my own issues with that command is that it always pop up when Maya is rendering. So since GUI is not locked and I can change settings during the render, sometimes when render finish I click re render -then I get error and its because Maya is finishing off/saving files. I usually just wait few secs and I can render again.
