strange Shave&Haircut crash : density map + multistrand

  • strange Shave&Haircut crash : density map + multistrand

    Hi there,

    I'm having troubles with the latest versions of vray / shave&haircut plugins.
    os: Mac OSX 10.6.8
    maya: 2012 sp1
    vray: 2.20.01 (core 2.00.01 ?)
    shave : 6.0v71

    When using "some density maps" with multistrands, maya crashes at render time ... it won't occur without multistrand, or with hand drawn black&white map.

    Here is my test :
    - load vray then shave plugins
    - create a sphere with default afro hair
    - select vray renderer
    - set density map with a simple file
    - set multi strand count (say 5)
    - click render and ... beng !

    Any tip or trick to debug things would be greatly appreciated, I can't find a clue in the stack trace ! I cannot attach my tif files, but would be happy to send example textures by any means.

    Note that the shave plugin is still reporting as 6.0v33 version, I had to change shaveVersion.mel to load the plugin, and tried to mail Joe about this matter but no answer till now ...

      Hi Vlado,

      I just sent an example scene, with a simple sphere, hairs and two texture files (brokenTex and workinTex), should be pretty easy to test things. I'm not sure it's a real issue, since we do have a complex environment with various maya, vray and shave versions in production ... I hope it's not related to some dyld_library_path misconfiguration etc.
