  • "Error receiving irradiance map" on DR-Slaves

    Hi,

    I´ve a strange thing here.
    (Maya 2012, Vray 2.25)

    When I render with DR...
The calculated IrrMap has wrong (dark) buckets.
The wrong buckets are generell from the slaves.
And the slave Server-Window give out the errMassge "Error receiving irradiance map"...etc.

This prob is new for me, perhaps 3-4 weeks or so.
It must have to do with my new Server (windows server 2008 R2), because there where no probs before with the old one (windows server 2003)...

We made all tests - Friewall, Virus scan - nothing helps.
When I render the scene on the slave localy - it works perfect.

What can be wrong with the new server, or generelly here?
    Any idea?

    Thanks, Jörg

sounds like prevelege problem for me ...

(just guessing, because i am not sure, what u mean with "all tests")
      - running the slave under the "right/valid" user-account?
      - paths set right?
      - finds the new server the "render-master"?

        thanks for your feedback,

        - running the slave under the "right/valid" user-account? - yes (it works since years perfect)
        - paths set right? - yes

        - finds the new server the "render-master"? - don´t know what u mean..
perhaps u can explane me, how I can check this?

The prob only happens while rendering per DR.
When I change the hosts, and make the slave to the master and the master to the slave...
The probs switches - the one who was perfect before is now the prob host - and the prob slave is now the perfect rendering master!

When I render with IrrMap "from file" no problems happens.
All hosts see my server and all textures, etc.

It works perfect for years - but now

        thanks for help

          Hello there,

We have experienced similar issues when we have a different Vray versions installed between the machines.
Please make sure that all machines are used the same Vray version.
If you are using nightly build version , please switch to official Vray version and do your tests again.

          Best Regards

Also, do you experience this issue with other assets (proxies, bitmaps)? Do you run the DR spawner manually or as a service?

            Best regards,
            Vlado

              thanks for feedback guys,

              I made some tests.

There is no diff between old feb 1 official build or may22, I used the last month.
... and yes, all hostst have the same build!

              to Vlado..

... no proxys or bitmaps (with a simple scene - one plane, one sphere, one rectlight, the probs are the same)
... the slaves are generelly startet manually per autostart-object ("C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2012\vray\bin\vray.exe" -server -portnumber=20207)
But we tried it as service - the same probs!

Strange is, that when I use the irrmap viewer.....
.. there seems to be no difference between the dark bucked DR rendered one, and the perfect looking localy rendered one.

              Any more ideas?

              thanks

                  additional i made this image...
As u can see, is the rendered DR - irrmap (dont render final image is "on") realy ugly - dark buckets.
But when I view it wih the irrmapviewer....
                  Both irrmaps looks realy identical.

And when I render both irrmap version to a finel render....
                  Both renderings are absolut identical!

                  A miracle - or?

                        Hello,

We found the problem with the irradiance map calculation phase in DR rendering. Thank you for pointing that issue out, we've added it to our tracking system.

                        Best regards,
