  • Rendering glass for live action integration

    Vlado,

I've got a quick question. I've trying to rendering a helicopter cockpit ( glass) to composite over live action footage. I want the inside of cockpit to be visible through the glass but I also want the plate visible in the background. can you tell me how to get the background plate to refract/distort in the glass without it actually have it visible in the render? Thanks!

You can achieve this effect by using Vray Environment Override and place the desired texture or color in the "Refraction texture" slot. Vray will render an empty background - except when you have a background behind a refractive object - then Vray will use the specified texture/color.
You can get similar result by using Dome Light with assigned texture with activated "invisible to camera" option.
