swatch material preview and sampling

Hi,

I would like to know if there is a way to keep the relfection/refraction subdivs to 8 on a material preview. if I set the subdivs to, let say, 200, it take a really long time for the preview to update.
I know I can disable auto update but it would be nice if the preview can stay to 8 subdivs instead of 200.
what do you think ?
