Hi,
I'm having an issue with mapping textures to the "Opacity Map" attribute in the VrayMtl in Maya 2012.
The issue is specific to glass materials or materials with refraction.
-When doing anything to the "Opacity Map" paramater (in MEL, it's "VrayMtl.transparency"), I lose pretty much all refractions.
-Plugging in the same texture to "refraction amount" and "reflection amount" results in a correct look, however the alpha still contains the geometry.
-Even mapping a solid color (one color ramp), with 100% RGBA to the attribute results in a strange render.
In the attached image, I am trying to fade off the tail geometry, but to keep it with the solid glass look that is depicted in the first frame.
I've been able to get this to work correctly in V-ray for Cinema4D (using the "Material Weight" parameter), however we need to be using Maya.
I'm attaching the scene file if anyone can help.
