  • Flickering in reflections

We have an animated scene with reflections in it. IR Maps and Light Cache. The GI looks great but the reflections show a lot of flickering of the rest of the scene that is out of view. I've attached rendering settings and a link to it on youtube here:

Do you use a .hdr or .exr for the reflection environment ?

Edit : are you sur it is reflection ?
Did you try without GI ? (you have to bake your GI)

No, this is the actual room that you are seeing in the balloon reflections. The lights are vray lights. We are testing use camera path for IRMap and LC to see if that helps stabilize it. The flickering dots do appear to be GI samples but where and how to adjust for it???

You have to bake your GI in a file with use camera path on, in a render layer.
After, create another renderLayer to get all gi file, and render.

I write a wiki here for VRay Maya (it is wip) : http://deex.info/wordpress2/vray-for...icks-and-tips/
It is french, but, use google translate.

I don't know if anyone want this wiki in english.

                Your objects not move ?
                If yes, both.

                Bake on 1 frame.

Both objects and camera are moving. We ran a test render last night.

We have use light cache for glossy rays turned on. The threshold is set to 1. We think the threshold is the issue. Which way would we adjust this, up or down. The items in the balloon's reflection that appear to be showing the LC samples are approximately 20 feet away. Would we increase or decrease this threshold to get it to not show the samples in the glossy rays?

if you have moving objects in your scene, you have to use animation prepass/rendering for the gi to work properly (I assume you did that) but if that does not work, yes try reduce the threshold.
