  • Irradiance Map error - Exception [module=2]

On one of my scenes will randomly get this error in the render log on the farm...happens on random frames and random procs everytime...

    [2012/Nov/14|13:11:06] V-Ray: Prepass 1 of 4...
    [2012/Nov/14|13:14:28] V-Ray: Prepass 2 of 4...
    [2012/Nov/14|13:20:41] V-Ray: Prepass 3 of 4...
    [2012/Nov/14|13:33:03] V-Ray: Prepass 4 of 4...
    [2012/Nov/14|13:40:32] V-Ray error: Exception [module=2] : Irradiance map thread
Error: Exception [module=2] : Irradiance map thread

then further down where it should start actually rendering the frame, it says:
    [2012/Nov/14|13:50:03] V-Ray: Render interrupted

    Any ideas what this means?

this does happen to us also. If you are able to ssh into the machine and generate a mini dump of the process before it exits and send it to chaosgroup they may be able to pin down the problem. I often blame such issues on network latency

Look like I may have fixed it...I turned on subpixel mapping, lowered my light intensity a hair, and I optimized the tree depth number by doing test renders at 10% size, and writing down the render times using settings like 40, 50, 60, 70, etc...then I picked the one with the smallest render time and it made a huge difference on the renderfarm. Rendertime went from 2 hours to 30 mins and I no longer get that error.
