    Heya,

during rendering Yeti fur on the farm (standalone render)

    Sometimes this error message appears.

    R 47| [2012/Nov/20|14:33:10] pgYetiVRay: reading X:/Projects/GREY12_ANM52_Karstadt_xmas/GR12A52_Shots/GR12A52_SH_060/SH_060_Maya//yeti/tmp/GR12A52_SH_060_Light_v009_pD_pgYetiMaya_santaShape _706390014_5.fur
    R 48|
R 49| [2012/Nov/20|14:33:11] error: Unhandled exception: Rendering; last marker is at line 2462, file "./src/vrayrenderer.cpp": Preparing camera sampler
    R 50|

Any hint/Tipp what could cause this error?

    Thanks in advance!

This error appeard with all Yeti 1.2 versions and all VRay versions we have used during the last few weeks.

The error comes randomly and is not bound to a specific frame, so it could happen that machine A has an error but the next time machine A receives the exact same frame it works.

Right now we are using the lastest Yeti Version and the nightly from [2012/Nov/20|18:11:01] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 2.25.01, revision 22495 from Nov 14 2012, 01:43:12

There is also another annoying thing with Yeti and VRay... (yeah long story with this plugin!!!)

Now some frames in a sequence render 20 times longer than other frame. (no motion blur, not more ore less fur in a frame) and the end result looks exactly the same as the fast version... Can this error come from wrong settings in the Raycaster section?

Any hint would be awesome on how to speed up hair/fur renderings. We are using a domelight with a directional light and 1 brtue force bounce for GI and we are rendering the fur only with the characters as houldouts.

      Thanks in advance!

So is this the same problem that came up last week? Is this with Colin's latest build that he sent you? Did you try his suggestion to set the number of Yeti threads to just one? The fact that the crash appears right after the "pgYetiVRay: reading ..." line suggests that it might be a Yeti problem, rather than V-Ray.

For the long render times - is it repeatable (I mean, does a frame always render long, regardless of how many times you render it)? It might mean that some incorrect hair data is being generated (possibly containing NaN numbers or similar).

        Best regards,
        Vlado

The latest Yeti build fixed the thread problem.

We will try to find the error, sometimes just saving the file as a new version and resending it fixed the problem ^^.
