  • DBR - slave just wont connect...

    Heya

DBR again. Its quite dodgy topic for me as I always managed to get it work but now I just dont know.

I just set up amazon dbr farm and all goes well with amazon but locally to add 1 slave extra its impossible.

The slave can see license/ping pc/render via deadline and so on. But as soon s I try to DBR from main workstation I have connection time out.

    Firewall off
    UAC off
Vray for maya slave running/with admin rights too.
    IP is correct.

Is there anything else that I'm missing or this slave just wont work ?

    Thanks, bye.

How did you run the V-Ray slave? Is it listening on the correct port for Maya (20207)?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Ok, then on the slave can you type in a command prompt
        Code:
        netstat /a
and see if port 20207 comes up anywhere.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

          Heya

Just got some time to get on with it.

Nope I don't see any 20207 port, I guess I have to open it manually?

          Thanks, bye.

If the V-Ray RT render server is running sucessfully, you should see a line like this:
            Code:
              TCP 0.0.0.0:20207 MACHINENAME:0 LISTENING
If you don't see anything like this, then check if there is a vray.exe process in the Task Manager. If not, check the settings of Windows Firewall (or disable it for a moment) and run the V-Ray render server again and see what you get.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Yup now I can see it, and I got it solved. Cant believe I mist it. I disabled my home firewall but left enabled public firewall.. Too bad I didnt notice my laptop was on a public network somehow so Vray was getting blocked wrr...(at least I know that windows firewall can block something successfully hehe...) aww stupid meee...

Sorry vlado for wasting time! Its all good now...

Speaking of wasting time, in max when I click show statistics in RT I could see speed in window, where can I see the speed in maya?

              thanks, bye.

"Show statistics" option for Maya doesn't work yet.
