  • Proxy Renders Wrong, No File Texture

I've created a Vray Proxy, simply using Create Proxy and having it automatically create the proxy (so that it preserves shader connections in Maya). The proxy Vray creates has the correct shader connections to these original shaders, but when it renders, it's not using the associated file textures connected to those shaders (creating the transparency).

See attached image. Notice the original locker on the left, with the wire mesh panels, compared to the proxy on the right, where no wire mesh is rendered.

Why is it rendering those proxy panels fully transparent instead of using the mesh file texture?

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance,

    Richard

did you add those shaders to the proxy object as well?

Thanks for the quick reply, but I don't understand the question.

The shaders were assigned to the original object, and after the auto-creation of the proxy, they remain in my maya scene. When I select the proxy object, it shows the new proxy shader, with the proper connections to those shaders. (see attachment)

I just don't understand why it's rendering those vray shaders which have a file texture connected to opacity as completely transparent.

Does that help? Am I missing a step?

can you turn off double sided lighting see that the geo does not have flipped normals...besides that, maybe poste a part of your scene so we can look into it.

Thanks for the help. Normals look good, but it's something to do with that geometry (a converted CAD model) because simple tests do confirm that proxies use file textures as expected.

I'm gonna do some rebuilding, will report back if the problem continues.
