Is this problem surely fixed now? I think I saw Vray 2.2 maya release notes saying that this bug is fixed. i'm a little puzzled now because what i'm getting it different from the notes. A ball inside a closed box linked with Vray domelight still can't receive any light as long as the box is enclosing it. Well, the box is obviously unlinked with the domelight through relationship editor. Other types of lights had no problem with light linking. Maybe I can rely on the 'Ray distance' attribute for certain situations, but it's definitely not same. Please someone clarify this issue. Thanks in advance.

Vray domelight and maya light linking

Hi,
Have you tried breaking the shadow links between the dome light and the cube?

Hmm... no it doesn't work reliably. a little more complex scenes with many objects and hierarchies just fail. both light and shadow links are made and confirmed through 'select objects illuminated by light' and 'select objects shadowed by light' menu. Correct lights or objected are shown in highlight. But the links don't work in render. I don't know how it works in a simple ball in a box case. I tried to create a new domelight or selecting different nodes or selection sets to make the links. nothing really works. I'm more puzzled now. Any more ideas please?

If it isn't too large you can attach it in the forum, else you can send it to vraymaya@chaosgroup.comV-Ray developer

i'm not sure yet, but maybe it has something to do with 'referenced file'? while i was simplifying my file, i imported a couple of referenced files and regrouped some of them, then suddenly the linking worked. maybe i should check that out further first.

Then please email us to vraymaya@chaosgroup.com and we'll get you information how to upload it on our ftp. Or you can use a service like dropbox.
