  • Cancelling a render causes Maya to hang, sometimes indefinitely

When I hit 'escape' to cancel a render in the VFB (say, if I decide I only want to render-region a smaller area to preview) Maya sometimes hangs, sometimes for several minutes or indefinitely. I often wind up ctl+alt+del to get out of Maya and restarting it because it's quicker than waiting for it to come back to life.

I've had this on many scenes. Maya 2012, 16Gb of RAM and an i7 3930 so I don't think hardware should be an issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

This is due to the VFB; it should be better in the latest nightlies, although we have a bit more work on this.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I have to completely kill Maya everytime I want to render a frame. Eventually it unlocks, but you have to wait for the ram to slowly unload. Kind of sucks if you are doing udim baking saving out channels from the VFB.
