  • Phoenix Smoke and Velocity Render Element not working right.

    Hi there.

Working on a project with phoenix 2.0 and Vray with one week ago nightlies.

We just rendered a smoke and rendered a Velocity Element and works like a charm except for the Phoenix Smoke.

As the phoenix release is quite new I don't know if that's supposed to work right or they'll have to fix it in some point.

Any help will be welcome !

Define not working right. If you expect to work really correctly, it can't. First because it's a volumetric, and second - because the fluid have complicated movement. Phoenix is currently using simple velocity vectors, but they do not produce good result if the emitting object is moving. Try to render with motion blur in VRay. If you have issues there, the render element will work even worse. If it looks good in VRay, it may be a bug in with the render element.

did you simulate with velocity enabled in phoenix? you have to have that on in order for phoenix to output motion vector.

Hi, sorry for not replying, busy days ....

We have the outplut activated as the image you uploaded, and the render element "works", and with "works" I mean the velocity element is output.

The point is, after you aplly the vector blur Node, the MB of the smoke is not correct, runs like vertical and doesn't look right at all.

Sadly cannot do it in the forums.

I've been talking with Teodora and we have our NDA signed so i'm about to send the scene files to Ivaylo during this evening.

              Thanks for replying !
