  • Lightmesh not casting shadows from other lights

    Hi,

I'm running into an issues where any geo I convert to lightmesh no longer casts shadows. Is there anyway around this? Thanks

Im not sure what the issue is. I just tested a simple scene where I created a sphere and turned it into mesh light I then set its brightness to 0 and placed a vray rec light above it, I can see it casting a shadow no problem. Can you perhaps post a small scene demonstrating how it does not work for you?

I forgot to mention that i'm projecting the plate onto the light mesh and using that as a texture. The problem is that it appears as though the luminance is being used in the alpha/opacity for some reason which means it casts faint shadows. I've turned off alpha as luminance so I don't know whats causing it.

If you are using an image which has an embedded alpha, this can be the cause. Try using a jpg or another format that has no alpha and see if you plugin outColor > vraylightmeshProperties.tex and see if that works.

I found a way around it. I just use the alpha offset to make the alpha white. Thanks for the quick replies!
