  • Maya batch mode ignores the "message level" setting

    Hi,

    I am using :

    [2013/Jan/28|18:35:44] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 2.25.01, revision 22690 from Jan 29 2013, 01:49:54
    [2013/Jan/28|18:35:44] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 2.00.02

i have set the message level to none and errors only. it works thru the maya output window, but when i submit the job to the farm it prints the default amount of info (in this case too much info)

here's the settings on the cmd line (i've replaced the client names with X's ) :
    R 6| >"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2012\bin\Render.exe" -proj "\\XXXX\Work\current\XXXX\Production\MAYA" -r vray -threads 12 -rd "C:/RR_localdata/renderout/Render/3d/XXXX" -im "<Layer>" -s 105 -e 105 -b 1 -rl "fur" "C:\RR_localdata\cachedscenes\Work_current\XXXX\df a2b185\dougtest\XXXX.mb"

is there a switch on the maya comand line (render.exe) that i can use to re-set the verbosity back to low?

I tried it with the latest stable build, it still will not respect the setting when in batch mode.

Have you tried a pre-render MEL script that changes the setting? Though it's odd that it works in one mode and not in the other; I don't think we handle the two cases separately.

i just tried this but its still not respected. i put it in pre-render and preFrameRender....

the root cause is the // Warning: Invalid geometric normal (0 0 0) for "<unknown>". //
this causes 1mb logs. should i open a new thread to address that? everything looks fine and renders. but the logs are super large. its making the render manager "sad". I know the mesh thats causing

It would help if you can get me a way to reproduce this, yes.

          Best regards,
