  • Small UI Bug

    HI there,

Just a small bug in the nightly build, Maya 2013.

Whenever I have a jpg attached to the environment slot in the background it always shows up.

    to reproduce.

    1) Attach a jpg to background slot.
    2) Turn OFF "Show in viewport"
    3) Save scene

It should be there in the viewport even though the button is off/blank

    Hi,

We were unable to reproduce this. Can you tell us the exact version of Maya 2013 (SP ?) and the V-Ray build number?

      Hi yolov,

I have this problem on both vanilla Maya 2013 and 2013.5 SP2.

      [2013/Mar/31|22:44:13] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 2.25.01, revision 22828 from Mar 23 2013, 02:14:57
      [2013/Mar/31|22:44:13] V-Ray: V-Ray core version is 2.00.02

And also V-Ray from Feb 4th (I'm unsure of exact build number).

It seems this doesn't happen on a clean blank scene. But it's happened to me on 4 or 5 different projects. I'll see if I can find out how to reproduce it and hopefully can get you scene for this.

Is there anything particular that you can think of? For example, after setting up the scene - rendering it and making some changes / adding some nodes? I'll also give it a try with that specific build and with 2013.5 as well.

          Hi Yolov,

          I think I found it.

Maya(?) seems to be duplicating the vray environment preview node, I'm getting one appearing in the root of the scene, and another appearing under defaultLayer in the outliner.

I'm positive now this is happening due to references.

I have reproduced the issue and have uploaded a sample scene, open the environment.ma scene as "reference.ma" is obviously the reference. (You also will probably have to relink files though)

Thanks for posting a scene, that was very helpful. Unfortunately, this is somewhat expected because of the way we have implemented the environment preview. From what I can see, the referenced scene already has an environment override with the "show in viewport" ticked to "on". The only thing you can do for the moment is to toggle it "off" in the referenced scene and save it this way. We will look into how we can fix this but I can't promise when.

No problem, it makes sense too. Thanks for the update and having a look.

Just a heads up, I've also come across an issue with the same sort of problem with V-Ray Settings being erased.

It seems when using a master scene with the new Maya Assemblies workflow, it is possible for maya assembly with V-Ray Settings to clash with the master scene file's V-Ray settings causing V-Ray to erase all render settings.

The problem does not occur when using referencing though with the same files, only when using Maya assemblies.

By erasing, you mean that when you open the render globals there is nothing in the tabs or that everything is reset to defaults?

Everything resets to defaults when you reopen the scene.

I can reproduce here on a fresh scene, let me know if you need a scene to work with.

No need, we managed to reproduce it. Will let you know if and when we can do something about this.
