  • Maya 2014 crash with vray distributed rendering

Don't know if this is the right place to post....

I got Maya 2014 with the latest vray for maya 2014 (win7x64) and all is fine so far.
But when I include another machine for distributed rendering (with vray4maya2014 renderslave running), after the initialiation phase it simply crashes Maya.

Could this be a problem with vray 2012 also installed or has anyone similar problems?

(and after restarting, Maya feels quite slaggish to use. Only a reboot fixes that. Hmmm)

    Thankx,
    Marco

    addon:
I narrowed the problem: It occours only, when the V-Ray frame buffer ist open (no bucket from the slave-PC is seen). - When I render only in the Maya Render View, all is fine

Yes - same crash here when using distributed with Maya 2014.

      Any news of a fix?

Unfortunately we don't have this fixed yet.
Our developers still working on it.

+1 here with 2014 also. A fix would be good to see, DR is a much loved feature of vray, and is sorely missed in 2014.

This turned out to be particularly difficult to track down; it's something related to multithreading and Qt in Maya 2014, but it's not yet clear what is going on.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Nope; this is still unresolved unfortunately. In order to track this down, we need the sources of the particular Qt version that Maya 2014 was built with, and these are still not available (at last, they weren't the last time I checked).

                Best regards,
                Vlado

Some questions to all experiencing the issue:
Do you get the crash after you restart maya, but without restarting your machine?
The developer who looked at it was able to reproduce the issue, just once on the first rendering and after maya is restarted it've worked normally.
Is this the case for you?

Sorry, for me it happens each and every time I use DR, after restarting maya and whole system.

It fails the same way on my machine too.
                        But like Vlado said
we need the sources of the particular Qt version that Maya 2014 was built with
If any update on this case is available will post it here.

I got the crashes when the machine was started and I tried the first rendering. After that I tried to restart maya and to rerender but maya itself got very sluggish so I had to restart my machine. But I'll try it in the evening and report back...
                            best regards,

I can confirm that for us, it no longer crashes when using the new service pack 1 for 2014.

                              Cheers
